KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that that there have been no reports of Malaysians involved in the bridge collapse in Genoa, Italy.

Yesterday, a section of around 200m of the Morandi viaduct broke away and plunged 50m during a heavy rainstorm.

About 35 cars and several trucks fell onto the railway tracks below. 

According to an AFP report, the death toll stands at 38. The victims include children aged eight, 12 and 13. 

According to a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy of Malaysia in Rome “will continue to monitor the incident particularly on the involvement of Malaysians, if any.
