KUALA LUMPUR (Apr 2): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) stressed that EPF withdrawals are not subject to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which was implemented yesterday.

In a statement today, the EPF reminded members to not appoint any agents or third parties to assist in making withdrawals and advised members to deal directly with the EPF.

The fund also said the GST will not be imposed on transfers related to the EPF Members Investment Scheme (EPF-MIS), which allows for members to transfer a portion of their EPF savings to invest in unit trust funds.

“Members are strongly advised to understand the costs and risks involved, and seek advice from qualified advisers before deciding to participate in the scheme,” it added.
