KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 5): Japan-based Nikon Corp's Malaysian unit Nikon (M) Sdn Bhd (Nikon Malaysia) has announced that it will cease operations in Malaysia from Jan 1, 2021 under a proposed restructuring which will see the camera manufacturer appoint two business partners to manage the marketing, sales and aftersales services on behalf of Nikon in Malaysia.

In a statement yesterday, Nikon Malaysia said its final operation day will be on Dec 31, 2020.

"For the imaging business, Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd will be our authorised distributor. For the industrial metrology business, QES (Asia-Pacific) Sdn Bhd will continue to be our authorised distributor.

"Nikon is committed and will continue to provide products and services that meet customers' needs and expectations in the Malaysian market and throughout the world," Nikon Malaysia said.

Nikon Malaysia said Futuromic and QES have been valued key partners of Nikon Malaysia since 2003 and 2009 respectively.

According to Nikon Malaysia's website, the company (Nikon Malaysia) runs its business in the country from its office at the Jaya One commercial centre along Jalan Universiti in Petaling Jaya, Selangor besides another branch along Jalan Lenggong in Jelutong, Penang.
