KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 10): My E.G. Services Bhd (MyEG) has been granted approval by Bank Negara Malaysia to issue electronic money via its iPayEasy e-wallet.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, MyEG said its sub-subsidiary MY E.G. Alternative Payment Services Sdn Bhd (MyEG Alternative) has received a letter of approval from the central bank allowing it to issue electronic money via its designated payment instrument, with a maximum wallet limit of RM1,500 per customer.

"The approval would enable MyEG Alternative to carry out activities in relation to the issuance of electronic money, which complements MyEG and its subsidiaries' existing business activities.

"The approval is expected to contribute positively to the prospects of the group," it added.

MyEG shares closed down 3 sen or 1.15% at RM2.57 today, with 16.35 million shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM9.27 billion.
