KUALA LUMPUR (March 12): The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) says today one of its members has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19).

The commission said the member is currently receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital here and is in stable condition.

"MyCC is unable to confirm whether the infection had occurred as early as Feb 29. The infected member, however, had not frequent MyCC office since that date.

"MyCC has taken the necessary steps to identify individuals including other members of the commission, employees and others who had close contacts with the infected member and is working closely with the ministry of health on this matter," it added.

It also warned that members of the public who had visited and interacted with the said member from around the date of Feb 29 onwards could have been exposed to the virus.

"This advice is also intended for the participants, speakers, moderators and secretariat of the workshop on "Recent Competition Issues in Malaysia" held at Corus Hotel KL on March 4. Please approach the relevant hospital or clinic for testing should you develop any known symptoms of Covid-19," said MyCC.

On its part, MyCC said it is currently working with the management of Menara SSM here to conduct a thorough disinfection of MyCC’s office at Level 15 this Sunday. In the meantime, the office will be closed today and tomorrow (March 13) and all of its employees will be working remotely from home.

Additionally, all planned activities and programmes have been postponed until further notice.
