(June 3): Several ministers attended a special briefing believed to be related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue last night, Umno-mouthpiece Utusan Malaysia reports.

The planned briefing for cabinet members was said to have started around 9pm and lasted for three hours.

It was held at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the same venue where Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak attended the launch of a new non-governmental organisation, Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia.

Utusan reported that Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, who was recently appointed the spokesman on 1MDB issues, declined to elaborate on the briefing when approached.

It was learnt that at least 11 ministers were at the briefing, although Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who returned from Australia last night, is believed to be absent.

Utusan Malaysia on Sunday reported that Najib had issued an ultimatum to his Cabinet last Friday, telling ministers to resign if they did not support him over the rehabilitation of 1MDB.

He said this soon after Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah finished laying out the roadmap for 1MDB's restructuring at the Cabinet meeting.

Culture and Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz however rubbished the report, saying that the prime minister practised inclusivity and wanted consensus from his Cabinet colleagues.

"Najib said this at the meeting: ‘If somehow, some of you feel uncomfortable with this, please hand in or write (your resignation), and I will understand.’

"If you were there, you would not feel like it was an ultimatum," Nazri said. – The Malaysian Insider
