KUALA LUMPUR (June 24): The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) has blamed a delayed Malaysia Airlines flight for causing Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu to miss a scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in London.

“On June 16, 2019, Defence Minister YB Mohamad bin Sabu was supposed to have an important meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in London, England.

“However, due Malaysia Airlines flight MH0002’s  two hours and 30 minutes’ delay in taking off from Kuala Lumpur on the night of June 15, the appointment that was slated for the morning of June 16 could not proceed,” said the ministry in a statement.

Mindef said Mohamad’s stopover in London was specifically to meet the prime minister, while on his way to France for an official visit.

“The inconvenience is greatly regretted and it is hoped that Malaysia Airlines does not repeat this in the future,” it said.
