KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has dismissed claims that it has deactivated its official Twitter account, explaining that there were technical issues on the platform since yesterday.

The anti-graft body has reported the matter to Twitter and the latter is in the midst of rectifying the issue.

“Therefore, claims by some quarters that the MACC has closed its official Twitter account is untrue,” it said in a statement today.

“The MACC is thankful for the concern from all parties, but we hope that the public will not make any speculations, especially those involving the image and integrity of the commission,” it added.

Since May 25, visitors to its account @SPRMMalaysia were greeted with a message saying the account does not exist, raising eyebrows and fuelling speculation that the account was deleted on purpose to hide the wrongdoing of certain influential figures.
