SINGAPORE (April 28): The Land Transport Authority will be calling tenders for the construction of the 21.5-kilometre North-South Corridor (NSC), slated to be completed around 2026.

Major construction works on the NSC will start in 2017 after the civil contracts are awarded.

The NSC will connect towns in the northern region to the city centre. It will be Singapore's first integrated transport corridor featuring cycling trunk routes and continuous bus lanes, which could potentially cut travel time from Woodlands, Sembawang, Yishun and Ang Mo Kio to the city by up to 30 minutes.

LTA says preparatory works for the construction have been carried out and advance engineering studies have also been completed.
