KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 13): Lexus Malaysia, a division of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, unveiled the fourth generation Lexus RX (Radiant Crossover) yesterday (Nov 12) and is aiming to sell 700 units of Lexus RX units in 2016.

Lexus RX is the best-selling model in its grand portfolio.

“Since we launched the Lexus RX in Malaysia in 2009, we have sold more than 2,300 units and this has definitely contributed to pushing Lexus Malaysia to the third spot in the luxury vehicle category in 2015," said UMW Toyota president Datuk Ismet Suki in a statement.

“With consumers’ safety placed as a top priority, the all-new Lexus RX comes with panoramic view monitor, 10 SRS airbags, and blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert,” he added.

"The all-new Lexus RX is another groundbreaking introduction to the Lexus line-up, and we are positive that it will be well-received by discerning Malaysian customers [who are] looking for both luxury and functionality,” said UMW Toyota's deputy chairman, Akio Takeyama.

Sharing the same design DNA with other recently-launched models in the Lexus line-up, the all new Lexus RX includes the "floating roof" effect, and a bolder "spindle grille", a signature of the Lexus brand.

"The all new Lexus RX is also bigger than before, with a 50 mm increase in wheelbase, providing more interior room throughout.

"With an interior space optimised for five passengers, the new Lexus RX’s lowered rear floor section helps provide seating position, comparable to that of the flagship Lexus LS luxury sedan," said UMW Toyota.

Available in six variants — RX200t Premium, RX200t Luxury, RX200t F SPORT, RX350 Luxury, RX350 F SPORT and RX450h, the range now has three new exterior colours: Graphite Black GF (Glass Flake), Amber CS (Crystal Shine) and Deep Blue MC (Mica).
 
Lexus Malaysia is offering on the road price, without insurance, for the improved RX; with price for private registration ranging from RM388,800 for the RX 200t Premium, to RM520,200 for the RX 450h hybrid.
