KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): The FBM KLCI extended its losses in early trade today, in line with the overnight fall at most global markets.

At 9am, the FBM KLCI dipped 2.76 points to 1,712.77.

The top losers included Selangor Properties Bhd, Genting Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Bursa Malaysia Bhd, Public Bank Bhd, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, IJM Corporation Bhd and Kimlun Corporation Bhd.

JF Apex Securities Research in a market preview today said US markets ended lower overnight ahead of Good Friday holiday following lower oil prices.

It said that earlier, European stocks plunged over 1% following fresh concerns of US interest rate hike and lower commodity prices.

"On the local market, the FBM KLCI lost 9.02 points to 1,715.53 points.

"Following the sluggish performance in the US and Europe, the FBM KLCI is expected to decline on the back of profit taking with immediate support at 1,710 points," it said.
