KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 23): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is undergoing a medical check-up and follow-up treatment relating to His Majesty's knee and ankle joints at the Royal Ward of the National Heart Institute (IJN).
In a statement on Sunday (Jan 23), Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that His Majesty's check-up and follow-up treatment began on Saturday (Jan 22), and is slated to take several days.
He added that the aforementioned health check-up and follow-up treatment are linked to a previous intervening treatment on His Majesty's knee and ankle joints on Sept 24, 2020.
Ahmad Fadil noted that His Majesty underwent treatment after a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan revealed knee and ankle joint injuries sustained from sports activities.
"This follow-up treatment was delayed from that date due to the implementation of the Covid-19 standard operating procedures at public hospitals, including IJN," he added.
Additionally, Ahmad Fadil said that the ruler also agreed to undergo a respiratory examination at IJN.
The Royal Household Comptroller said that His Majesty's health is "generally in a good condition" and the ruler is scheduled to return to Istana Negara after the follow-up treatment is completed.
"All the people are called upon to pray for His Majesty to be granted quick recovery and lasting health," he added.
