KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 24): Technology is disrupting many industries and imposing new demands on workers. 

They'll need to have technical skills and be flexible and quick to adapt to the fast pace of technological development.

They'll also need to have critical thinking and problem-solving skills, amongst others.

The question is, are the youths today ready for that future? It's already common to hear employers complain that the education system is not churning out talent with relevant technical skills or the necessary soft skills.

The good news is that many tech competitions, held nationally and globally, are nurturing students to use design thinking skills and creativity to solve problems using technology. 

Students with this kind of experience could end up being more prepared to face the tech-disrupted job market of the future.
