KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd announced on Thursday (Oct 14) that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM258 million contract for the construction of main building works in Johor.

In a local bourse filing, the construction company said it secured the project from Teguh Harian Build-Tech Sdn Bhd and the construction works are expected to commence on Nov 1, 2021 and will take three years to complete.

The project covers the construction of main building works for three blocks of apartment with common area and mechanical & electrical (M&E) facilities, and a 12-storey podium car park consisting of car park and M&E facilities, it said.

"Due to our expertise and good reputation in building good quality high rise buildings, we won our first contract from Teguh Harian Build-Tech to build the apartments.

"We are glad that our strong track record continues to enable us to secure contracts from existing and new clients.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for placing their trust in Kerjaya. We are committed to continuing to focus on delivering projects that meet our clients' expectations," according to Kerjaya Prospek chief executive officer and executive director, Tee Eng Tiong.

Tee added, amid the challenging environment caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the group has managed to secure RM907.6 million worth of contracts so far this year.

"We are confident of continuing to win more contracts for the rest of the year and achieve our internal order book replenishment target of RM1 billion for the year 2021.

"With the country achieving more than 90% vaccination rate for its adult population and the gradual opening of our economy, we foresee a better outlook for the construction industry going forward," he shared.

At noon break today, shares in Kerjaya closed three sen or 2.31% higher at RM1.33, valuing the construction company at RM1.65 billion.
