KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): Kanger International Bhd is collaborating with Stoika Sdn Bhd to distribute long-lasting commercial antimicrobial coating solutions in Malaysia and overseas.

In a statement today, Kanger said it signed a sub-distributor appointment agreement with Stoika for distribution in the Malaysian market, and also formed a joint venture collaboration with the latter to distribute the solutions abroad.

“Kanger and Stoika will hold 51% and 49% equity stakes in the JV company, respectively. While Kanger will be a subdistributor for the Malaysian market, the JV company will endeavour to act as a main distributor in other countries,” it said.

Stoika is the exclusive distributor of SDPRO and SDST products in Malaysia, which are “patented and cutting edge nanotechnology-based coating products”.

They have been proven to be highly effective in eliminating 99.99% of viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold, and are certified non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

The products can be applied on various types of surfaces such as metal, concrete, glass, wood, plastics, ceramics, leather and even fabrics.

Kanger said SDPRO is targeted for larger scale and commercial applications and has an efficacy period of 12 months after each application.

Meanwhile, SDST is more suited for personal usage, and is available in smaller bottles and is effective for three months after application.

“This collaboration opens up new opportunities for us to address what we see as an urgent global need for long-lasting antimicrobial solutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As countries all over the world are starting to gradually ease lockdown measures, businesses and governments will be looking for solutions to ensure the health and safety of their customers and employees. The longlasting aspect is of paramount importance as the risk of recontamination is very high even with frequent cleaning using ordinary disinfectants, especially in high traffic locations,” said Kanger executive director Zarif Kenneth Hooi.

Currently, the products are being used in hospitals, universities and colleges, retail malls, office buildings, banks, as well as airports in Malaysia, Singapore and around the world, said Kanger.

According to Bursa filings, the subdistributor agreement took effect on June 25 while the joint venture collaboration agreement is effective today.

Kanger closed up half a sen or 5.56% to 0.95 sen today, valuing it at RM117.35 million.
