KAJANG (May 21): The Kajang Municipal Council and the Hulu Langat Health Department continued their sanitisation of the Kajang market today.

The market was closed for sanitisation and disinfection after three workers at the market tested positive for Covid-19 recently.

According to news reports, 216 traders and workers at the market had been screened for Covid-19 after the cases were reported.

A number of markets have been closed for sanitisation and disinfection recently — namely the Raja Bot market in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, the Jalan Othman market in Petaling Jaya, and the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market in Selayang — after Covid-19 cases were found among traders at those markets.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) conducted Covid-19 tests on traders, workers and residents around these markets after cases emerged.

Pudu and Petaling Jaya’s Old Town were also put under a semi-enhanced movement control order (SEMCO) and an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) respectively after infections spiked in the areas.
