LONDON: Malaysian restaurant brand JOM Makan in the United Kingdom has opened its second outlet in over a year at Europe's largest shopping centre in Westfield London.

In a statement, JOM Makan said the 3,100 sq feet outlet, with an investment of £750,000 (RM4.19 million), offered a total seating capacity for 120 patrons and was expected to contribute a turnover of £800,000 in its first year.

It projected turnover to reach in excess of £1.2 million in its second year of operations. JOM Makan is a Malaysian franchise based in London initiated under the Malaysia Kitchen Project.

JOM Makan Westfield London replicates the concept of the first flagship outlet at Pall Mall, London with an open kitchen and casual dinning experience emphasising on fast and fresh food, and complying with the highest standards of cleanliness, health and hygiene.

The opening of the second outlet brings JOM Makan's total investment in the United Kingdom to about £1.9 million. Both outlets have a 25-year lease.

"We are looking to open a total of five outlets in the United Kingdom by 2012 and are also exploring opportunities to take the concept to the United States," said JOM Makan managing director Mohd Zuhri Abdullah.
