KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): IOI Corp Bhd managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Lee Yeow Chor has been made the new chairman of the Malaysian Palm Palm Oil Association (MPOA).

In a statement, the MPOA said that Lee was elected as chairman for a period of two years from 2020 to 2022 during its annual general meeting and council meeting held on Monday.

Lee succeeds Datuk Franki Anthony Dass, whom has retired from his role after serving the MPOA from 2016 to 2020.

Dass is chief adviser and value officer at Sime Darby Plantation Bhd and is a veteran of the oil palm industry.

Lee previously served as the chairman of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council from February 2009 to March 2020.

"His vast and long experience in the industry will definitely give the association the added boost in addressing issues plaguing the plantation sector," said the MPOA.

At the same council meeting, Hap Seng Plantations Holdings Bhd CEO Au Yong Siew Fah was also re-elected as vice chairman.
