KUALA LUMPUR: The 10th edition of the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM), themed “Innovating Sustainability”, will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Oct 9 to 11.

The IGEM 2019, organised by the ministry of energy, science, technology, environment and climate change (Mestecc) and the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), will feature leading and aspiring corporations involved in renewable energy, energy efficiency, transport, waste, water, manufacturing and agriculture.

A number of memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed between local and international parties, reinforcing their commitment to the green agenda.

The IGEM 2019 will also convene 10 conferences covering climate change, green financing, energy efficiency and many others.

This year’s IGEM will continue to feature business networking sessions, organised by GreenTech Malaysia, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation.

Additionally, in recognition of the best practices for renewable energy, the Malaysian Dutch Business Council will be hosting the “Innovation & Sustainability Awards 2019” to reward pioneering organisations for implementing sustainable measures in their operations.

Acting chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Greentech Malaysia Syed Ahmad Syed Mustafa said, “Equally, we want to reach out to fellow Malaysians to raise awareness of the urgency of climate action and have lined up numerous engagements to open their minds to adopting sustainable practices and products as an integral part of their lives.”

The IGEM 2019 will be opened to trade visitors and to the general public for all three days.

“As the host country, I urge all Malaysians to participate with full commitment and enthusiasm, to showcase the best of what Malaysia has to offer the world and to explore the abundant opportunities in the thriving global green economy,” Mestecc Minister Yeo Bee Yin said in a statement.

The IGEM 2019 will feature exhibitors including country and regional pavilions by the European Union-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Taiwan External Trade Development Council, South Korea’s Green Energy Institute and the Canadian High Commission, with several other returning exhibitors such as Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Cypark Resources Bhd, UEM Edgenta Bhd, Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, Jinko Solar Holding Co Ltd, JA Solar Holdings, LONGi Solar and Hanwha Q CELLS (M) Sdn Bhd showcasing their innovative sustainable technologies.

The event will also play host to 10 states, which will display their indigenous ideas and initiatives to go green.
