(Oct 29): Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim today said he had no qualms about Rafizi Ramli's plan to reveal the documents related to the hospital project by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) which the PKR lawmaker claimed to cost RM8.2 billion.

Admitting that he has yet to view the documents himself, Irmohizam said he was briefed by UiTM on the matter.

“As a responsible MP, he should reveal in details on how he got the amount.

“I admit that I have not seen the documents but I was briefed by UiTM on the project and its cost. Do not spread speculation as it affects those who need the facility the most,” he said.

Irmohizam refuted Rafizi's claim that he had mentioned that the hospital would cost about RM800 million.

“I never mentioned RM800 million. I said RM599 million. Rafizi should retract his statement,” said Irmohizam.

He said the people of Kuala Selangor really needed the hospital and such speculation could affect the people's chances of having such facility being built in the area.

“They need it. It is high time to have such facility there since the nearest hospital for Kuala Selangor people is the Sungai Buloh Hospital,” he said.

Irmohizam said he was puzzled how Rafizi managed to read through the procurement documents as they were classified and were only privy to the parties involved.

Razifi Ramli, who is Pandan MP, earlier today told Irmohizam to check his facts and figures on the project before making any statement as the RM800 million mentioned was “impossible”.

“I have seen the documents. Has he? I don't think so,” said Rafizi.

He added that if Irmohizam stood by his statement, he should ask Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to reveal the documents on the concession.

Yesterday, UiTM refuted Rafizi’s claim that Putrajaya would spend RM8.2 billion for the UiTM Hospital project at its Puncak Alam campus.

It said the draft on the project was still being studied to ensure the welfare of UiTM.

Rafizi on Tuesday said the cost of the hospital should only be RM599 million but that the government had handed out the project for RM8.2 billion. – The Malaysian Insider
