KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 5): Hil Industries Bhd, a property developer which is also a one-stop custom injection moulder of engineering plastics, is venturing into the face masks and medical devices industry in a bid to capitalise on the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Hil said its wholly-owned unit the Hil Medic Sdn Bhd has received approval from the Medical Device Authority (MDA), which is part of the Ministry of Health, to manufacture three-ply surgical grade face mask and face shields.
The group said Hil Medic had recently obtained its ISO 13485 certification from Sirim QAS International Sdn Bhd for medical manufacturing. As such, Hil Medic may now be a licensed manufacturer of medical devices.
“Hil Medic has also obtained the results for its face masks from external laboratories that comply with ASTM F2100 Level 3 and EN14683 Type IIR,” Hil Industries said.
The group said it is confident that the venture of its subsidiary into the face mask and medical devices industry will contribute positively to the group’s results.
Shares of Hil Industries closed two sen or 2.47% higher at 83 sen today, valuing the group at RM277.25 million. Over the past year, the stock has jumped by 66%.
