KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): Composer Henry Mancini's mid-century beach house in Malibu, California, the US has been listed for sale at US$11.6 million (RM52.5 million), according to a press statement on Tuesday (Sept 13). Mancini, who passed away in 1994, purchased the property for US$147,500 back in 1972.

The two-storey, four-bedroom, three-bathroom beach house has a built-up of 2,212 square feet and is located on Malibu's La Costa Beach. The house offers ocean views from Point Dume to the Queen's Necklace, the statement said.

The beachfront living room has a marble fireplace and sliding glass doors that open onto a deck and private beach access. The main bedroom has its own terrace, vaulted-wood-beamed ceilings and an en-suite bathroom with a marble shower and soaking tub. Another room on the second floor also offers ocean views and a deck.

Besides that, the kitchen, which is connected to the dining room, is equipped with stainless steel appliances, Viking dual ovens and a breakfast bar. The house also has a two-car garage plus driveway space that can fit two additional cars.

Nearby shops and restaurants include the notable beachfront Duke's Restaurant, which is a quarter of a mile from the house, Iron Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's Nobu Malibu and the Malibu Country Mart.

Located along the coast just north of Los Angeles, Malibu is a coastal city known for beaches and oceanfront luxury homes.

Often cited as one of the greatest composers in the history of film, Henry Mancini won four Academy Awards and 20 Grammy Awards and was famous for Moon River and Pink Panther theme.
