KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 8): Global semiconductor equipment billings surged 48% year-over-year to a record high of US$24.9 billion in the second quarter of 2021, according to the US-based Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International (SEMI).

In a statement on its website yesterday, SEMI said the fiqure was a 5% increase from the prior quarter.

SEMI’s Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS) Report is a summary of the monthly billings figures for the global semiconductor equipment industry.

Regionally, China topped the list with 79% y-o-y jump to US$8.22 billion (from US$4.59 billion), while South Korea and Taiwan followed at US$6.62 billion and US$5.04 billion billings respectively.
