FRANKFURT (Oct 7): German industrial production dropped sharply in August, weighed down by falling manufacturing and construction output, data showed on Tuesday.
According to regular data compiled by the economy ministry, industrial output contracted by 4.0 percent in August, after rising by 1.6 percent in July.
Manufacturing output fell by 4.8 percent and construction output was down by 2.0 percent while energy construction output edged up by 0.3 percent, the ministry calculated.
