KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): GD Express Carrier Bhd rose as much as 25 sen or 13% after the logistics player proposed a bonus issue of up to 4.71 billion new shares on a a three-for-one basis.

Shares of GD Express climbed to their highest so far today at RM2.25. At 11:11am, the stock pared gains at RM2.18 to become Bursa Malaysia's second-largest gainer. 

The stock saw some six million shares traded.

Last Friday, GD Express said the bonus issue would enable its shareholders to have greater participation in the company's equity, while retaining their respective stakes.

"Additionally, the proposed bonus issue is also expected to improve the trading liquidity and marketability of GDEX (GD Express) shares on the Main Market of Bursa Securities, whilst increasing the capital base of the company," the company said.
