KUALA LUMPUR (April 30): Offshore production and support services provider Bumi Armada Bhd has appointed Gary Neal Christenson as an independent and non-executive director of the company effective immediately.

He has also been appointed as the chairman of the risk management committee and a member of the audit committee.

Currently, Christenson, 63, is the chief executive officer and a director of PT Agra Energi Indonesia (USA), a position he has held since 2013.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Bumi Armada said Christenson has over 35 years of technical and managerial experience in the oil and gas exploration and production industry, including management positions at Tenneco, British Gas, Unocal and Santos in Southeast Asia and Africa.

"Christenson has a background in geology, and experience in managing large exploration and production projects, field startups, and tendering large marine projects. He also has significant experience in commercial analysis, strategic planning, partner relations, stakeholder communication, capital raising and risk management," it added.

Bumi Armada shares closed up 0.5 sen or 0.6% at 84 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM4.87 billion.
