KUALA LUMPUR: Franchisee Grand Companions Sdn Bhd plans to open more outlets of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, which marked its entry in the country with the opening of the first outlet on Jan 19.

“Despite the current global economic challenges, we remain bullish of our prospects in Malaysia,” Grand Companions’ owner Aishah Ishak said in a statement yesterday.

The first outlet in Taman Tun Dr Ismail is the brand’s first restaurant in Asia to carry the new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen logo and menu board launched in the US in the fall of 2008.

“Malaysia and the state of Louisiana have a lot in common,” said Aishah.

“Both are melting pots of a diverse group of  people and cultures that have come together to create a blend of local cuisine that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Full of spices and herbs, not to mention a generous touch of spiciness, Louisiana-inspired cooking can certainly be very well received here in Malaysia.”
