KUALA LUMPUR (May 23): Malaysia Aviation Group's low-cost arm Firefly is set to resume its service from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang to Seletar Airport in Singapore after more than two years of suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic and border closure, effective June 13, 2022.

In a statement on Sunday (May 22), the carrier said the twice-daily return flights are set to be operated by ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft with a capacity of 72 seats and will progressively increase their services by year end.

It said tickets can be purchased now from as low as RM119 one-way and are available for sale through the Firefly mobile app, website, booking offices and travel agents.

Firefly chief executive officer Philip See said with the opening of Malaysia’s borders, Firefly is glad to reconnect communities within Malaysia and Singapore whether for business, leisure or with loved ones.

“As the Ministry of Tourism, [Arts] and Culture targets attracting two million international tourists to Malaysia this year, Firefly sees this as a perfect time to reinstate and play the role of connecting the communities within both countries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Changi Airport Group air hub development managing director Lim Ching Kiat said there had been strong travel demand between both countries since travel restrictions eased.

“Together with our airport partners, Seletar Airport is ready to support Firefly’s operations and we look forward to welcoming and serving passengers at the airport,” he said.

Firefly said customers will enjoy the convenience of city airports, increased flight frequencies, a 20kg complimentary baggage allowance, fast check-in and boarding and complimentary in-flight refreshments on board its ATR 72-500.

The airline said it also provides customers with more value and convenience with the available bundled service offerings from Plus, Extra or Flex fares.

The offers include a 25KG baggage allowance, flight changes, priority boarding, seat selection, travel insurance and many more. Enrich members will be able to earn and burn points for every journey taken.
