KUALA LUMPUR (March 29): Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) has appointed Datuk Zakaria Arshad as chief executive officer (CEO). Zakaria will replace Datuk Mohd Emir Mavani Abdullah.

FGV said in separate filings with Bursa Malaysia today that Zakaria's appointment would be effective this Friday (April 1). FGV said Zakaria, 56, had been the group's downstream palm operations head since 2014.

Meanwhile, FGV said Mohd Emir, 52, would relinquish his position due to the expiry of his contract with the company.

According to FGV, Mohd Emir has been FGV group president and CEO since 2013.

At 12.30pm today, FGV shares rose one sen or 0.7% to settle at RM1.47 for a market capitalisation of RM5.36 billion. The stock saw some three million shares done.
