KUALA LUMPUR (June 10): Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) CEO Datuk Zakaria Arshad said he would resign if Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Najib Razak wants him to do so. Zakaria said this amid probes on transactions involving a subsidiary of Malaysian Government-linked FGV.

Zakaria told The Edge Malaysia business and investment weekly that he had told FGV chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad of his (Zakaria) intention to accept Najib's decision on the matter.

"I want to go see the PM. If the PM wants me to resign, I’ll resign," Zakaria told The Edge Malaysia, which reported this in its latest June 12 - 18 issue.

Last Tuesday, FGV told Bursa Malaysia that Zakaria and FGV group chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha "have been given leave of absence" to facilitate investigations on FGV subsidiary Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd's transactions.

The Edge Malaysia quoted Mohd Isa as saying in an interview that FGV's board had requested Mohd Isa to tell Zakaria to resign from his post.

Isa said : "No, it is not personal, it is not personal. This is a policy matter."

Malaysia's Prime Minister's Office has appointed Datuk Seri Idris Jala to look into FGV's problems.

News reports quoted Idris as saying he was "trying to establish the facts" before making any recommendations.
