KUALA LUMPUR (April 9): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has re-emerged as a substantial shareholder in Allianz Malaysia Bhd after almost two years.

Allianz Malaysia said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia that the EPF bought 269,200 shares of the company on March 17, and an additional 497,800 shares from March 18 to April 6.

In total, EPF acquired 767,000 shares or a 0.43% stake in the company during this period.

With this, EPF now holds 9.44 million shares in Allianz Malaysia, raising its stake in the group to 5.33%.

Allianz Malaysia’s share price closed six sen or 0.47% higher at RM12.82, bringing the group a market capitalisation of RM2.27 billion. The counter saw some 25,800 shares done.

Year-to-date, the counter has fallen 21% from RM16.28 on Dec 31, 2019.
