KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 12): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has extended Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif's term as its chief investment officer (CIO) until Dec 31, 2019, with the approval of the Ministry of Finance.

"Datuk Mohamad Nasir has held this role since April 15, 2013, and was due for retirement on Nov 14, 2018. The decision to extend his tenure is to ensure continuity in the EPF's investment division and enable a smooth succession plan," said the fund in a statement today.

Mohamad Nasir started his career in the EPF in 1982, where he has held several positions including as state enforcement officer, senior research officer, senior manager in the investment and economics research department and general manager of the international equity investment department, before being promoted to deputy executive officer for the investment division.

He currently sits on the boards of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, PLUS Malaysia Bhd, Yinson Holdings Bhd, BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, the Battersea Project Co Ltd and Yarra Park City Pty Ltd.

He graduated with a Bachelor in Social Science (Economics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and obtained a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 1996.

He also holds a Master of Science in Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling, the United Kingdom.
