KUALA LUMPUR (April 27): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) reduced its stake in Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd to 7.732% last Tuesday (April 21) after selling six million shares in the pay-TV operator on the day, Astro’s latest filing with Bursa Malaysia showed.

Last Friday, Astro said the EPF’s 7.732% stake comprised 403.2 million shares in the company after the disposal.

The EPF had been selling Astro shares in recent days. Astro said the EPF disposed of seven million shares in Astro last Monday (April 20) after selling four million units on April 17. 

On April 17, the EPF owned a 7.982% stake in Astro, according to the company.

As at the time of writing today, Astro’s share price had risen 6.5 sen or 7.3% to 95.5 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM4.98 billion. The stock was traded between 91 sen and 96.5 sen today.

For the financial year ended Jan 31, 2020, Astro’s net profit increased to RM655.3 million from RM462.92 million a year earlier. Revenue, however, declined to RM4.91 billion from RM5.48 billion.
