KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 16): The Election Court in Kota Kinabalu has nullified former foreign minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman's parliamentary seat win in the 14th general election.

Kuching High Court judge Datuk Lee Heng Cheong, who heard the election petition case for the Kimanis parliamentary constituency in Sabah, announced the decision this afternoon.

The election results were declared null and void on the grounds of manipulation of votes and existence of inconsistencies between Form 13 and Form 14, where the total number of votes did not tally, a source from the Election Commission told theedgemarkets.com.

Astro Awani reported that Anifah has indicated that he would appeal the decision to the Federal Court.

The election petition was filed by Parti Warisan candidate Karim Bujang.

Another candidate for the Kimanis seat in the contest on May 9 last year was Harapan Rakyat coalition's Jaafar Ismail.
