KUALA LUMPUR (March 30): Ekovest Bhd’s EkoCheras Mall has allocated more than RM10 million to subsidise two months’ worth of rent for its tenants from March 1 to April 30, as well as free parking for its visitors until the end of April.

In a statement, it said the mall has remained partially open during the Movement Control Order (MCO) — which commenced March 18 and was extended by a further two weeks to April 14 — to support essential businesses such as supermarkets, pharmacies, and F&B outlets with delivery and takeaway services, as well as enable shoppers to get daily necessities.

“After the extension announced recently on March 25, the management feels even more deeply towards our valued tenants’ predicament,” it said, adding that after thorough deliberation, it decided to subsidise its tenants and shoppers.

“With these moves, the management hopes to bring some comfort, ease and support to our valued tenants. In addition, the mall management has also increased the proximity of cleaning and sanitising throughout the mall.

“The well-being, sustainability and safety of our tenants, residents, shoppers and staff remain as EkoCheras Mall Management’s utmost priority,” it said.

Shares in Ekovest closed down one sen or 2.63% at 37 sen, bringing a market capitalisation of RM982.29 million.
