KUALA LUMPUR (April 11): Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Johor is still a part of Malaysia in response to the State's ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar's warning that "certain quarters" should stop meddling in the State's affairs.

"I believe Johor is a part of this country, unless of course it's a foreign country. I don't interfere in internal affairs of foreign countries," he told the press after officiating at the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 today.

In a post on his Facebook page, the monarch had told unnamed parties to not interfere in Johor's affairs as "this sovereign state still has a Sultan".

He added that he will make "the best decision for my people when the time comes".

His statement came after Dr Mahathir said the new Johor Menteri Besar (MB) will come from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Former MB Datuk Osman Sapian quit on Monday (April 8).
