PETALING JAYA (Dec 10): The women wing of DAP have demanded Dr Ridhuan Tee Abdullah to retract and apologise to Teresa Kok, the MP for Seputeh for addressing her as 'kiasu spinster'.

"It is shocking that as an associate professor, Ridhuan Tee has failed to understand that every individual has the right to decide if he or she wants to marry, and if so when to marry," said Teo Nie Ching, the secretary of DAP Wanita.

Teo who is also the MP for Kulai also asserts that Ridhuan Tee's remarks is uncalled for and questions his competence to be a lecturer at the National Defence University Malaysia (UPNM).

"Ridhuan Tee's sexist remark shows that he is a male chauvinist who cannot debate based on facts. It is totally unnecessary for him to come out with such gender discriminatory remark in his reply to Teresa’s criticism," said Teo in a press statement.

Teo also expressed their concern over the impact of Ridhuan Tee's attitude towards his teaching in UPNM, a male-dominated university.

"Will our future military officers be gender sensitive and know how to respect female," she questioned.

Ridhuan made the 'kiasu spinster' remark while responding to Kok's allegation in parliament question time that he taught ethnic cleansing in UPNM.

Without identifying a name, Ridhuan Tee in his column in Malay daily Sinar Harian, wrote that the "kiasu spinster" who attacked him in Parliament should continue to study and obtain more degrees.

Kok had also alleged weeks ago that Ridhuan Tee had plagiarised an article written by Dr Airil Yasreen Mohd Yassin, a lecturer in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for his research paper.
