KUALA LUMPUR (July 13): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has found seven new Covid-19 cases in the country as at noon today, of which six were imported cases.

The six imported cases involved two Malaysians and four permanent residents who were allowed to enter the country for work, according to health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Meanwhile, the lone locally-transmitted infection involved a Malaysian and was also a case from the newly-discovered PUI Novgorod cluster in Melaka.

This is the fourth straight day that new infections outpaced daily recoveries since July 10.

In addition, active cases in the country increased slightly to 83 from 77 reported yesterday, with patients already isolated and given treatment.

According to his statement, four patients are being treated in intensive care, with three of them needing respiratory assistance.

No new deaths were recorded, meaning the Covid-19 death toll in the country stayed at 122, translating into a 1.39% of fatality rate.

Noor Hisham added only one patient recovered today — the lowest number of recoveries recorded since the Movement Control Order (MCO) began on March 18.

Malaysia’s total cumulative cases rose further to 8,725 while total recoveries stood at 8,520.
