KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): Active cases in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan rose to 114 for the two-week period from May 29 to noon yesterday, from 98 reported previously, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

This raised the number of active cases in Negeri Sembilan for the two-week period to 119 from 103 previously, according to data provided by the MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre.

The surge of active cases in Rembau was due to the Pedas cluster, which had recorded 113 infections for the two-week period.

There were 54 new cases from the cluster on May 29, two cases on May 30, one case on June 2, 36 cases on June 3, four cases on June 6, and 16 cases yesterday (June 11), according to data provided by the ministry.

Meanwhile, in Negeri Sembilan’s other health districts, Seremban had three active cases, while Tampin and Kuala Pilah had one active case respectively.

Three health districts in the state remained as green zones, namely Jelebu, Jempol and Port Dickson.

Besides Rembau, another health district that was classified as a red zone is Cheras in Kuala Lumpur, which means the number of red zones remained at two, according to the ministry. Active cases in the district declined to 335 from 339 previously.

The total number of active cases in Kuala Lumpur fell to 368, from 374 reported yesterday.

The MoH has three categories of Covid-19 zones: red zones are defined as districts with at least 41 active Covid-19 cases, yellow zones have one to 40 cases, while green zones have no active cases.

As for other states in Peninsular Malaysia, Selangor has 81 active cases, Pahang has 18, Melaka and Putrajaya both have four each, Johor has three, while Perak had one.

In East Malaysia, Sabah had 10 active cases, Sarawak has three, while Labuan has one.

In total, there were 612 active cases for the two-week period, a slight increase from 601 reported yesterday, noted the MoH.

The MoH reported yesterday that Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases jumped to 31 after three consecutive days of recording single-digit new infections.

Thus, the total cumulative cases in the country rose to 8,369.
