KUALA LUMPUR (April 24): Malaysia recorded 2,717 new Covid-19 cases today, down from 2,847 yesterday, bringing cumulative coronavirus cases in the country to date to 390,252.

Of the new cases, 26 were imported infections; 24 were foreigners and two were locals.

Also recorded were 11 more fatalities — five from Sarawak, three from Selangor, two from Sabah and one from Kuala Lumpur — which raised the death toll from the pandemic here to 1,426, or 0.37% of overall cases, according to Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today. One of the new fatalities was a foreigner.

New recoveries, meanwhile, came in at 2,292, raising total recoveries to 365,900, which represents a recovery rate of 93.8%.

As new cases continue to surpass new recoveries, active cases — referring to those that carry transmission risks — rose to 22,926, up from 22,512 yesterday.

Selangor again tops list; 10 new clusters found
