KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has confirmed that one of its employees, based at its Menara UAB, Jalan Tun Perak branch here, has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, the banking group said the employee was being treated at a government hospital.

It also said contact tracing is being conducted, while all employees who were in direct contact with the affected person would be placed under home quarantine until they receive medical clearance.

CIMB said it has closed and will deep clean and sanitise the affected branch as a precautionary measure.

Yesterday, it announced that one of its staff based at its call centre in Menara Southern Bank (MSB) had tested positive for Covid-19.

Prior to this, two employees of CIMB had tested positive for Covid-19 on March 23 after returning from their personal trip to Indonesia.

Both of them are based at the bank’s Jalan Dato’ Bandar Tunggal branch in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

The group said it had earlier implemented several precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of customers and staff, which included a mandatory travel declaration policy, hygiene and social distancing measures at both head office and branches.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced 140 new infections today, bringing the total Covid-19 cases in Malaysia to 2,766.
