KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 25): Bursa Malaysia Bhd reported a 17% rise in third quarter net profit at RM51.6 million from a year earlier as share trade besides listing and issuer services income increased.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia today, the bourse operator and regulator said net profit rose to RM51.6 million in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2017 (3QFY17) from RM44.04 million. Group revenue was higher at RM130.27 million versus RM119.4 million.
"3QFY17 saw a higher average daily trading value (ADV) for on-market trades (OMT) and direct business trades (DBT) of RM2.16 billion compared to RM1.88 billion in 3QFY16.
"The performance of the securities market is forecasted to remain stable towards the end of 2017, given the strong fundamentals of the Malaysian economy and equity market. Bursa Malaysia will continue its efforts to make the Malaysian capital markets attractive, and anticipates an improved performance for the current financial year," Bursa Malaysia said.
It said 9MFY17 net profit rose to RM167.77 million from RM143.45 million a year earlier. Revenue was higher at RM415.63 million compared to RM383.05 million.
Shares of Bursa Malaysia have not been traded so far today. Yesterday, the stock settled at RM10 for a market value of RM5.38 billion.
