KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4): Seni Jaya Corp Bhd has been slapped with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia following the sharp rises in its share price and trading volume recently.

The stock closed up 31 sen or 29.25% at an all-time high of RM1.37 today, valuing the group at RM55.53 million. Some 188,400 shares were traded today, far exceeding the counter's 200-day average of 9,084 shares.

The stock also closed limit up yesterday with a 30 sen or 39.47% gain to RM1.06.

Bursa Malaysia, in a filing today, asked Seni Jaya to disclose any corporate development, rumour or report concerning the business and affairs of the group, and any other possible reason, for the sharp increase in its share price.

Separately, Bursa said the upper limit price of Seni Jaya's shares has been frozen at RM1.37, after the stock hit limit up for two consecutive trading days.

Under Bursa rules, a freezing of price will be imposed "if an upper limit price or lower limit price is reached on a market day and is followed by another upper limit price or lower limit price".

Seni Jaya is principally involved in providing media and production services for both indoor and outdoor advertising in Malaysia.
