KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): Bank Negara Malaysia's international reserves stand at US$105 billion as at Sept 30 this year, up 0.19% from the US$104.8 billion that was recorded on Sept 15.

The central bank said in a statement today that the reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt.

Of the components of the international reserves, foreign currency reserves rose to US$97.8 billion from US$96.3 billion previously.

International Monetary Fund reserves remain unchanged at US$1.3 billion.

Meanwhile special drawing rights and gold rose to US$1.2 billion and US$2.3 billion, from US$1.1 billion and US$2.2 billion previously.

Other reserve assets fell to US$2.4 billion from US$3.9 billion.

The central bank's total assets stood at RM488.88 billion versus RM502.21 billion as at Sept 15.
