KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 21): Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) has signed a preliminary non-binding term sheet with Indonesia's MNC Group to explore e-money business in Malaysia.

In a statement on Wednesday (Dec 21), MNC's unit PT MNC Kapital Indonesia said it aims to leverage its strengths with BCorp on developing and expanding e-money-related services between Indonesia and Malaysia.

MNC's executive chairman, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, said he expects the partnership to create synergy in providing convenience to Indonesians in Malaysia. "I hope this partnership will also lead to more collaborations between Indonesian and Malaysian companies to benefit both countries and their people particularly in trade, investments and businesses.

"I am confident that our expertise in digital financial services will be a game changer and bring significant value to this partnership," said Hary of MNC, which has four core businesses in media and entertainment, financial services, entertainment hospitality, and energy.

"We see the tremendous value that MNC Group will bring as our strategic partner in enhancing the group's ability to meet the needs of our customers," said BCorp's founder and chairman, Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun. "I look forward to the possibility of expanding the scope of our collaboration with the MNC Group moving forward as we work to further strengthen our position as the leading global consumer group."

BCorp's share price closed flat at 28.5 sen on Wednesday with a market capitalisation of RM1.7 billion.
