KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said today the central bank’s international reserves amounted to US$102.8 billion as at June 15, down a marginal 0.1% from US$102.9 billion as at May 29. 

"The reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.2 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt,” BNM said in a statement.

The foreign currency reserves, which is the largest reserves portion, fell to US$95.3 billion from US$96.5 billion previously, while International Monetary Fund Reserves position was unchanged at US$1.2 billion.

Also unchanged were special drawing rights at US$1.1 billion and gold at US$2.0 bilion. Other reserve assets, on the other hand, rose to US$3.2 billion from US$2.1 billion previously.

The central bank's total assets as at June 15 stood at RM484.3 billion, up from RM483.09 billion two weeks ago.
