(May 14): A three-storey semi-detached house in the affluent neighbourhood of Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar, caught fire about 11.30 this morning.
Eye-witnesses said the fire, which destroyed the top floor of the house, in the Damaisari gated community, in Jalan Medang Kapas, appeared to have started from one of the rooms on the third floor.
Thick, black smoke was billowing from the roof of the house and the fire spread in a matter of minutes, nearby residents said.
They said by the time, the fire engines arrived, the top floor was engulfed in flames and the fire was in danger of spreading to the house next door.
Firemen in at least four fire engines are still at the scene although they have managed to put out the fire.
It is believed that only the maid and a child were at home at the time of the fire. They managed to escape unhurt. – The Malaysian Insider
