KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): Foreign holdings in Axiata Group Bhd reached the 11% threshold last month, the highest figure recorded by the multinational telecommunications company in two years since March 2020.
Axiata’s foreign holdings rose to 11% in February 2022 from 10.9% reported in the previous month.
According to published data that goes back to 2013, the group's highest foreign shareholding in the last eight years was 28.3% recorded in January 2013, while the lowest foreign shareholding level was found in June 2018 at 9.3%.
According to Bloomberg data, Khazanah Nasional Bhd is the largest shareholder of Axiata with a total stake of 36.75% or 3.37 billion shares, followed by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) (16.99%) and Amanah Saham Bumiputera (14.68%).
At the time of writing on Monday (March 28), shares in Axiata traded unchanged at RM3.81, valuing the group at RM34.96 billion.
