KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): Axiata Group Bhd said its dividend of 2 sen per share for the second quarter ended June 30, 2020 will be paid on Oct 13.
The counter will go ex on Sept 28, while the entitlement date is on Sept 29, Axiata said in a stock exchange filing today. The dividend payout was first announced with the group's latest quarterly results last month.
For the second quarter ended June 30 (2QYF20), Axiata’s net profit fell 63.72% to RM80.02 million or 0.9 sen per share, from RM220.56 million or 2.4 sen per share a year earlier, dragged by weaker performance in Malaysia and Nepal, and on a smaller one-off gain on disposal.
Axiata had posted a one-off gain on sale and leaseback of telecommunications towers of RM30.7 million in 2QFY20, as opposed to a gain of RM96.1 million in 2QFY19 on disposal of rights of investment in India.
Quarterly revenue slid 5.87% to RM5.79 billion, from RM6.15 billion, as only the tower business and the Indonesian segment provided higher contributions, while contributions from other markets fell.
Axiata’s shares closed 6 sen lower at RM3.09 today, valuing it at RM28.33 billion. Year-to-date, the counter has fallen about 27% from RM4.21.
