KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): Aturmaju Resources Bhd (Aturmaju) was slapped with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia on the recent sharp rise of its share price.

In a filing to the stock exchange today, Aturmaju, which is involved in processing of sawn timber, said that it has received the query today.

Aturmaju's share price has been on the rise since Feb 17. The stock has gained 37.8% from 82 sen on Feb 17 to RM1.13 today.

The regulator inquired whether the company has any corporate development or rumours that have not been previously announced that may account for the trading activity, including those at the stage of negotiation or discussion.

"If yes, kindly provide the details, including status of the corporate development, to enable investors to make informed investment decisions," the regulator said.

Aturmaju is required to respond, after making due enquiry with its directors, major shareholders and such other relevant persons, to the query.

Aturmaju also need to reply on whether it was aware of any other possible explanation to account for the trading activity and whether it was in compliance with the Bursa Securities Listing Requirements, in particular Paragraph 9.03 of the Bursa Securities Listing Requirements on immediate disclosure obligations.
